सूतजी बोले: हे ऋषियों ! मैं और भी एक कथा सुनाता हूँ, उसे भी ध्यानपूर्वक सुनो! प्रजापालन में लीन तुंगध्वज नाम का एक राजा था। उसने भी भगवान का प्रसाद त्याग कर बहुत ही दुख सान किया। एक बार वन में जाकर वन्य पशुओं को मारकर वह बड़ के पेड़ के नीचे आया। वहाँ उसने ग्वालों को भक्ति-भाव से अपने बंधुओं सहित सत्यनारायण भगवान का पूजन करते देखा। अभिमानवश राजा ने उन्हें देखकर भी पूजा स्थान में नहीं गया और ना ही उसने भगवान को नमस्कार किया। ग्वालों ने राजा को प्रसाद दिया लेकिन उसने वह प्रसाद नहीं खाया और प्रसाद को वहीं छोड़ वह अपने नगर को चला गया।
जब वह नगर में पहुंचा तो वहाँ सबकुछ तहस-नहस हुआ पाया तो वह शीघ्र ही समझ गया कि यह सब भगवान ने ही किया है। वह दुबारा ग्वालों के पास पहुंचा और विधि पूर्वक पूजा कर के प्रसाद खाया तो श्रीसत्यनारायण भगवान की कृपा से सब कुछ पहले जैसा हो गया। दीर्घकाल तक सुख भोगने के बाद मरणोपरांत उसे स्वर्गलोक की प्राप्ति हुई।
जो मनुष्य परम दुर्लभ इस व्रत को करेगा तो भगवान सत्यनारायण की अनुकंपा से उसे धन-धान्य की प्राप्ति होगी। निर्धन धनी हो जाता है और भयमुक्त हो जीवन जीता है। संतान हीन मनुष्य को संतान सुख मिलता है और सारे मनोरथ पूर्ण होने पर मानव अंतकाल में बैकुंठधाम को जाता है।
सूतजी बोले: जिन्होंने पहले इस व्रत को किया है अब उनके दूसरे जन्म की कथा कहता हूँ। वृद्ध शतानन्द ब्राह्मण ने सुदामा का जन्म लेकर मोक्ष की प्राप्ति की। लकड़हारे ने अगले जन्म में निषाद बनकर मोक्ष प्राप्त किया। उल्कामुख नाम का राजा दशरथ होकर बैकुंठ को गए। साधु नाम के वैश्य ने मोरध्वज बनकर अपने पुत्र को आरे से चीरकर मोक्ष पाया। महाराज तुंगध्वज ने स्वयंभू होकर भगवान में भक्तियुक्त हो कर्म कर मोक्ष पाया।
॥ इति श्री सत्यनारायण व्रत कथा का पंचम अध्याय संपूर्ण॥
श्रीमन्न नारायण-नारायण-नारायण।
भज मन नारायण-नारायण-नारायण।
श्री सत्यनारायण भगवान की जय॥
Sutji said: O sages! I tell another story, listen carefully to that too! There was a king named Tungadhwaj absorbed in Prajapalan. He too suffered a lot by sacrificing God's prasad. Once, after going to the forest and killing wild animals, he came under the banyan tree. There he saw the cowherds worshiping Lord Satyanarayan along with their brothers with devotion. The arrogant king did not go to the place of worship even after seeing them, nor did he salute the Lord. The cowherds gave prasad to the king but he did not eat that prasad and leaving the prasad there he went to his city.
When he reached the city, he found everything ruined there, so he soon understood that all this was done by God. When he again reached the cowherds and after worshiping ritually and eating the prasad, then by the grace of Lord Shri Satyanarayana, everything became as before. After enjoying happiness for a long time, he attained heaven posthumously.
The person who observes this very rare fast, then by the grace of Lord Satyanarayana, he will get wealth and grains. The poor becomes rich and lives a life free from fear. A childless person gets the happiness of children and after fulfilling all the desires, the human goes to the abode of Baikunth in the end.
Sutji said: Those who have observed this fast before, now I will tell the story of their second birth. The old Shatanand Brahmin attained salvation by taking the birth of Sudama. The woodcutter attained salvation in the next birth by becoming a Nishad. King Dasharatha named Ulkamukh went to Baikunth. A Vaishya named Sadhu became a mordhwaja and attained salvation by ripping his son with a saw. Maharaj Tungadhwaj attained salvation by being self-styled and engaged in devotional work in God. ,
