शिव जी और माता पारवती की विवाह कथा | Shiv Parvati Vivah Katha

महाशिवरात्रि 2022, मार्च 1 यानी कल है और आपने भी बड़ी धूमधाम से तैयारियां शुरू कर दी होंगी। शिव जी की पूजा की सामग्री के लिए आप बाज़ारों में जा रहे होंगे। महाशिवरात्रि का दिन हम माता पारवती और भगवन शिव की शादी की ख़ुशी में मनाते हैं। परंतु क्या आप जानते हैं की शिव - पारवती विवाह कैसे हुआ था? इसी सवाल के साथ आइये पढ़ते हैं शिव - पारवती विवाह कथा।

माता पारवती भगवान शिव से विवाह करना चाहती थीं। सभी देवता इस रिश्ते से खुश थे और सभी चाहते थे की पर्वत राजकन्या माता पारवती और भगवन शिव का विवाह हो। माता पारवती की ओर से कुछ लोग भगवान शिव के पास पारवती जी का रिश्ता लेके गए। शिव जो की एक तपस्वी (साधु) हैं, वे किसी रिश्ते नाते में नहीं बांधना चाहते थे। रिश्ते की खबर सुनकर वे क्रोधित हो उठे और उन्होंने अपनी तीसरी आँख खोली। उसके प्रकोप से रिश्ता लेके आये लोग भस्म हो गए।

भगवान शिव द्वारा रिश्ता ठुकराने की खबर सुन कर माता पारवती को बहुत दुःख हुआ। परंतु वे तो ठान चुकी थीं की वे शादी करेंगी तो बस महादेव से ही। इसी दृढ़निश्चय के साथ माता पारवती ने शिव जी को पाने के लिए तपस्या शुरू कर दी। उनकी तपस्या से सभी जगह हाहाकार मच गया। बड़े बड़े पर्वत भी डगमगाने लगे। इन सभी बातों का जब भगवान शिव को स्मरण हुआ तब उन्होंने अपना ध्यान तोडा और अपनी आंखें खोली।

जब वे माता पारवती के समक्ष उपस्थित हुए तब शिव जी ने उन्हें समझाया की एक तपस्वी के साथ जीवन व्यापन करना माता पारवती के लिए आसान नहीं होगा।

लेकिन माता पारवती ने तो जैसे ज़िद ही पकड़ ली थी के वे शादी करेंगी तो बस महादेव से। उनकी इस हट को देख कर भोलेनाथ ने सोचा की वे बिलकुल उनकी तरह ही हैं और उनकी जोड़ी बहुत अच्छी लगेगी। भोलेनाथ माँ पारवती से शादी करने के लिए मान गए और यह सुन कर न केवल माँ पारवती, अपितु समस्त देव गण भी बेहद प्रसन्न था।

माँ पारवती के घर में इस शादी को लेके ज़ोरों - शोरों से शादी की तैयारी शुरू हो गयी थी। अब समस्या यह थी की भगवन शिव एक तपस्वी थे और उनके परिवार में कोई नहीं था। उन्हें शादी की रस्मों का कोई अंदाजा नहीं था। मान्यता यह थी की वधु का हाथ मांगने शादी के दिन वर को अपने परिवार के साथ ही आना पड़ता है लेकिन भगवन शिव के परिवार में तो कोई नहीं था।

ऐसे में महादेव ने डाकिनियां,भूत-प्रेत और चुड़ैलों को अपनी बारात में शामिल होने को कहा। भगवन शिव तो इस बात से भी अनजान थे की शादी के लिए तैयार कैसे होते हैं। डाकिनियों ने भगवान शिव के शरीर पे भस्म लगा दिया और हड्डियों की माला पहना दी जो की उनके घरों की परंपरा होती होगी।

अब भगवान शिव की बारात जिसमें भूत - प्रेत थे, नाचते गाते माँ पारवती के द्वार पहुंची। सभी लोग जिसमें माँ पारवती के घरवाले और देवता गण थे, हैरान रह गए। भूतों को देख कर घर की महिलाएं दर कर वहां से भाग गयी। महादेव को इस रूप में देख कर उनकी सास यानी माँ पारवती की माँ ने उन्हें अपनी बेटी का हाथ देने से इंकार कर दिया।

माता पारवती और शिव जी के विवाह की परिस्तिथियों को बिगड़ता देख पारवती जी ने महादेव से अनुरोध किया की वे उनके रीति रिवाजों के मुताबिक शादी करें। भोलेनाथ ने माँ पारवती की इस प्रार्थना का मान रखा। पारवती जी ने सभी देवताओं को उन्हें तैयार करने का निवेदन किया।

इसके बाद भोलेनाथ को दैवीय जल से स्नान कराया गया और उन्हें खूबसूति से फूलों की मालाओं से तैयार किया गया। जब भोलेनाथ पूरी तरह से तैयार होकर सभी के समक्ष आये तब सभी उनकी सुंदरता के गुणगान करते न थक रहे थे। जब उन्हें माता पारवती की माँ ने देखा तो उन्हें अपनी बेटी की शादी शिव जी से कराने में कोई आपत्ति नहीं हुई।

ब्रह्मा जी की उपस्तिथि में विवहा का शुभारम्भ हुआ और दोनों ने एक दुसरे को वर माला पहनाई। ऐसे माता पारवती और शिव जी का विवाह संपन्न हुआ जिसे हम लोग शिवरात्रि के रूप में मनाते हैं और शिव जी की पूजा करते हैं।

The mention of the marriage of Shiva-Parvati is found in many places in the Puranas. It is said that we celebrate Mahashivratri on the day Shiva and Parvati got married.

Mahashivratri 2022 is on March 1 i.e. tomorrow and you too must have started preparations with great fanfare. You must be going to the markets for the materials of worship of Lord Shiva. We celebrate the day of Mahashivratri in the joy of the marriage of Maa Parvati and Lord Shiva. But do you know how the Shiva-Parvati Vivah took place? With this question, let's head towards the Shiva Parvati Vivah Katha.

Maa Parvati wanted to marry Lord Shiva. All the gods were happy with this relationship and all wanted the marriage of Parvati, the mountain princess, and Lord Shiva. On behalf of Maa Parvati, some people took the relation proposal of Parvati to Lord Shiva. Shiva who is an ascetic (sage), did not want to tie any relationship. Hearing the news of the relationship, he got angry and opened his third eye. The people who came with a relationship with his wrath were consumed.

Maa Parvati was very sad to hear the news of Lord Shiva rejecting the relationship. But she was determined that she would marry only with Mahadev. With this determination, Maa Parvati started penance to get Shiva. His penance created an outcry everywhere. Even the big mountains started staggering. When Lord Shiva got to know all these things, he broke his meditation and opened his eyes.

When he appeared before Maa Parvati, Shiva explained to him that it would not be easy for Maa Parvati to live with an ascetic.

But Mata Parvati had caught hold of her stubbornness that she would marry only Mahadev. Seeing her obstinacy, Bholenath thought that she is just like him and their pair would look very good together. Bholenath agreed to marry Maa Parvati and hearing this, not only Maa Parvati, but all the gods were also very happy.

In the house of Maa Parvati, the preparations for the wedding had started with loud noises. Now the problem was that Lord Shiva was an ascetic and there was no one in his family. He had no idea about the wedding rituals. The belief was that on the day of marriage to ask for the hand of the bride, the bridegroom had to come with his family only, but there was no one in Lord Shiva's family.

In such a situation, Mahadev asked dakinis, ghosts, and witches to join his procession (Baaraat). Lord Shiva was not even aware of how to get ready for marriage. The Dakinis put ashes on the body of Lord Shiva and garlanded them with bones, which would have been the tradition of their homes.

Now the procession of Lord Shiva in which there were ghosts, singing and dancing reached the door of Maa Parvati. All the people, including Maa Parvati's family members and the deities, were astonished. Seeing the ghosts, the women of the house ran away from there. Seeing Mahadev in this form, his mother-in-law i.e. Maa Parvati's mother refused to give him her daughter's hand.

Seeing the deteriorating conditions of the Vivah of Maa Parvati and Shiva, Parvati Ji requested Mahadev to marry according to their customs. Bholenath respected this prayer of Maa Parvati. Parvati Ji requested all the deities to get Bholenath ready for their vivah.

After this, Bholenath was bathed with divine water and he was beautifully prepared with garlands of flowers. When Bholenath came fully prepared in front of everyone, then everyone was not tired of praising his beauty. When she was seen by Maa Parvati's mother, she did not mind getting her daughter married to Shiva.

The marriage started in the presence of Brahma Ji and both of them garlanded each other. With this, the great Vivah of Mata Parvati and Shiva took place, which we celebrate as Mahashivratri each year and worship Lord Shiva.
